192 - Les Diaboliques (1955) - The Frenchman Always Slaps Twice

Heather remains here for Pride month as we comb through the coded closest of the 1950’s for the movie that inspired Psycho and was quite ahead of its time in many regards, such as dialogue, and honesty about subject matter like infidelity and spousal abuse, but also succumbs to the conventions of its time, likely for marketability to North American theaters. It’s quite a movie. and one with strong lesbian overtones, despite the censorship.
